What is Cheyenne?

Chevy has done a Silverado Cheyenne before except it was simply a special edition. I'm not sure what was included in the package, but maybe one of you could share?

wonder why chevy decided to name an entire concept of a special trim package...

vEight 12-09-2013 04:57 PM

At least the Cheyenne name has some history and isn't just some new random name they came up with. Now, it's set to be on a performance model, sweet!

burritotacosalsa 12-10-2013 12:22 PM

From wikipedia

that name was used multiple times

American Motors used the name for its Rambler Cheyenne concept station wagon that was exhibited at the 1964 Chicago Auto Show.[1] This model should also not be confused with the Cheyenne trim badging used on the Chevrolet C/K pickup prior to 1998. In Mexico, the Chevrolet Cheyenne is also a luxury trim for Chevrolet Silverado, is also available in Regular Cab since the 1980s, Extended Cab since 1998 year model and Crew Cab since 2005 year model.

Cheyenne is like their version of GMC's Denali, easy way to put it to those unfamiliar.

lemony squeezy 12-10-2013 04:54 PM

Interesting. Now I really doubt that any production version will be called Cheyenne. I think there is too much history with SS to have it replaced by a luxo trim name.

burritotacosalsa 12-11-2013 10:32 AM

Well this concept is directly called the Silverado Cheyenne

But its still a Chevy Silverado. So I guess in this case the Cheyenne is like a trim?>

vEight 12-11-2013 02:46 PM

It's like how BMW has M vehicles and then M-Sport trims with just a tiny bit of what the top performance model has.

I guess, but in terms of selling it I think Silverado SS will go over better with buyers, theres already a history there.

that and it might be cheaper, the Silverado Cheyenne seems to have a lot of fancy things like carbon ceramic brakes, carbon fiber tail gate, etc.... all of which drives its price up

burritotacosalsa 12-16-2013 10:25 AM

I feel like that stuff was just retrofitted last minute for a show

Don't think we'll see it on production.

Yusef 12-16-2013 05:15 PM

I think auto companies are happy to use a name that they already have rights to because they've used it in the past. If you don't want to name your vehicle a random assortment of numbers and letters then you are pretty much left with names that your company has retired in the past.

that way it has more meaning and does make sense in the end can't blame them for doing it, it happens a lot

agreed, its not financially feasible for a production model. CF bumpers and tailgate will simply munch into the typically high margins a special variant will carry. The carbon ceramic brakes could make the jump because they are simply a parts bin piece but even at that I think it spikes the cost too high unless they are planning to sell the Cheyenne in Z/28 territory...

That makes sense.
If that's the case, then maybe they can make the CF parts optional, or even part of a special package you can check off on the order sheet?

perhaps, or even part of GM Performance accessories

burritotacosalsa 12-23-2013 07:30 AM

would work well as an option

if they made it standard the cheyenne would be dam expensive

That too.

If they don't offer it at all it will give hennessy performance an area to fill in on

burritotacosalsa 12-24-2013 09:06 AM

does hennessy even do trucks?

lemony squeezy 12-24-2013 12:34 PM

oh yes they do ;)

I'd imagine all warranty is voided. I'd be happy with the Cheyenne if it came anything like the concept

Wouldn't feel a need to change it.

lemony squeezy 12-27-2013 01:30 PM

I don't know. I'm pretty sure henessy has a relationship with GM. I would imagine having manufacturer backing would leave your warranty in tact..

so far the only changes people are suggesting it needs are those to make it's pricing ideal since what we're seeing seems to be really expensive

burritotacosalsa 12-28-2013 04:21 PM

if it sold the way it is now. could be a 70k-80k truck.

vEight 03-11-2014 03:30 PM

Why do you say $70-80k?

burritotacosalsa 03-11-2014 06:11 PM

look at the parts...

I know but i just can't see that happening at $70k+

burritotacosalsa 03-12-2014 05:33 PM

its basically a corvette in a truck

so it has to at least cost as much as a corvette. so maybe not 70k. but still dam expensive.

Corvettes start at $53k so I guess with what's included here $70 could possibly be it.

burritotacosalsa 03-13-2014 03:16 PM

we will never know :)

Black looks killer, would you ever black out the whole front end? It's something I would consider, especially after seeing the Silverado Cheyenne,

bigsapper 04-07-2014 05:12 PM

Yes, it's on my to do list.

vEight 04-08-2014 03:06 PM

Awesome, i know a lot of guys are going for plasti dip over a full wrap. Plus it's easy to apply, might be something to consider just to preview what it will look like.
