Ford won't build F-150 Tremor sport pick-up in next-generation

We just recently saw the next-generation Ford F-150 pick-up unveiled in Detroit. This next-generation truck uses aluminum to cut down on weight -- it's pretty awesome.

However, Doug Scott, Ford's truck marketing manager, told Automotive News that the 2015 F-150 lineup won't include a new version of the Tremor Sport pickup. The Tremor, for those of you who don't know, is a short-wheelbase, regular-cab model that uses a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 to deliver on-road-focused performance.

Also potentially on the chopping block is the Raptor, Ford's off-road pickup. The Raptor is likely to just be put on hold for a year or two, and then launched again to follow-up on the launch of the standard model.

Do you think that Ford dropping the Tremor will open up some opportunity for Chevy and the Cheyenne?

No I think its proabably more like a nail in Cheyennes coffin. The entire pickup segment is talking about going lighter and more efficient, its just bad PR if chevy was to announce a 6.2 fire breather pulling down low teen or single MPG's...

Definitely room for Chevy to fill in. The Ford was iconic though, i'm disappointed to hear they're completely dropping the idea for next gen models. They did so well with the current gen, i don't see a reason to not continue it.

People understand that a performance Silverado (the Cheyenne) would be a different breed from the super fuel efficient trucks that are coming out lately. I think that people would be happy to get their hands on a performance truck and if Ford is out of the segment then this is Chevy's chance to make a big profit.

That is very true.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if Chevy and even Ram are working on something and have been for a while.

One thing SRT is missing is....a truck.
They made an SRT-10 Ram back in the days, now they need to bring it back.

BEAST!

Did you guys see the Ford F-150 RaptorTrax? It is described as "the ultimate backcountry snowboard expedition vehicle." Where is Chevy's answer to this?

That's epic.
If there's a brand that needs this it's chevy as they fall right behind ford in sales. They can't beat ford in sales, might as well go through other paths to get people on your side.

answer? What do they need to answer to a one off truck for Ken Block for?

what you guys are forgetting is that this is a completely different Era then the one dominated by SRT RAMs and F150 lightening's. the SRT went out of production back in 06, in this day and age who has the funds to fuel a V10 powered pickup?

don't you think if ford is dropping the segment they have probabaly done some cost benefit analysis and determined that the sales gains there are either nonexistant or extremely marginal?

these companies don't exactly fly by the seat of their pants you know...

It is probably being cut because to be honest it didn't sell that well.

You can still get a 2014 Ford Tremor though. So better snatch one while you can!

Might as well, those 2014 models will be the best. Usually last year models are the best of that whole generation.
