Compliance audits can happen at any time. However, the following may increase your chances of a DOT audit:
-Accidents, especially if they result in an injury or fatality
-A roadside inspection resulting in an ""out-of-service"" violation
-Failing a New Entrant Safety Audit
Therefore, you should not be sure that this will never happen to you. On the contrary, I see this as an opportunity to increase the level of road safety. If you properly and responsibly approach this issue, then the audit does not pose any difficulties. Yes, there are specific requirements for the documentation. I personally use the audit checklist that I found on https://www.avatarfleet.com/blog/che...pass-dot-audit . I save a lot of time, but at the same time, I am confident in my safety when driving.
